Wear It Ohio 2011

Wear It Ohio logoFor a fourth consecutive season, the Division of Watercraft is conducting its “Wear It Ohio!” campaign to promote the proper wearing of approved inflatable life jackets and vests. Special Wear It Ohio promotional events are scheduled May through July at Alum Creek, Caesar Creek, Portage Lakes and East Fork state parks.

Ohioans age 18 and older with proper identification who complete a Wear It Ohio pledge card may be eligible at no cost to receive on loan for the 2011 boating season an inflatable life vest from the Division of Watercraft only when participating in an official Wear It Ohio event at the four designated state park locations.

In 2010, a total of 17 Wear It Ohio events were held at the four state park lakes and were enjoyed by over 1,200 Ohioans. A total of 732 new inflatable life jackets and vests were loaned to eligible boaters last year. Since the program began in 2008, more than 1,600 inflatable life jackets and vests were loaned free of charge to Ohio boaters.
