Law Enforcement Careers

Minimum Qualifications for Employment
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Drivers License
- At least 21 years of age upon completion of Watercraft Peace Officer Training Academy
- Must pass a swim test and physical fitness test [PDF; 65K]

Annual Training Requirements
- Firearms qualification
- Swim qualification
- Physical fitness qualification
- Valid driver's license
- Compliance with OPOTA requirements
- Ohio Boating Education Course Instructor Certification
Unusual Working Conditions
- Exposure to inclement weather (hot/cold)
- Required to work evenings/weekends/holidays during boating season (March-October)
