Weekly Boating Report for May 25-27

Statewide: The Memorial Day holiday weekend is the traditional start of the summer boating season and among the busiest of all boating weekends. Boaters are encouraged to have the required safety equipment on board and that it is in good working order. This includes having a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket that is in good condition and the proper size and type for every person on board.

Boaters are reminded to make sure their craft has a valid boat registration. Ohio watercraft registrations are valid for 3 years and expire on March 1.

In NE Ohio: Beginning in early June, the West Branch State Park entrance off Rock Spring Road at Ohio Route 5 on the north side of the lake will be closed through fall to replace the railroad bridge. Detours will be posted directing traffic to the south side of the park. Call the park office for more information, 330-654-4989.
