Acton Lake

Welcome to Acton Lake located in Preble and Butler counties.

This 625-acre lake and its 8 miles of shoreline are surrounded by the scenic 3,600-acre Hueston Woods State Park in southwest Ohio. The forested area and surrounding land originally were claimed by local conservationists before coming under protection of the state. Today, the lake and state park provide an accessible, but quiet retreat for those who enjoy getting away from it all.

The lake has a maximum depth of 33 feet. Boaters can access the lake using a 9-lane launch ramp facility. A full service marina offers more than 270 seasonal docks, boat rentals and marine fuel. A 10-horsepower limit is in effect on Acton Lake.

The lake provides good fishing opportunities for bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish. Boats largely include pontoons, canoes and small motorized fishing boats. The pace is slow and that makes it attractive to family boating activities.

Hueston Woods State Park includes a small resort lodge and nearly 500 camp sites that provide for overnight accommodations. In addition to boating activities, visitors can stretch their legs by enjoying 10 miles of hiking trails and 12 miles of mountain biking trails. The park also features 18 miles of bridle trails, an 18-hole championship golf course and a paintball field and target area.

There are many outdoor activities to enjoy and recreational boating provides a great complement to a camping or lodge weekend. As with most state park lakes, weekday visits will find fewer boaters and park visitors.

Acton Lake is located just four miles from the Ohio-Indiana state line outside of College Corner. It is 7 miles north of Oxford and the Miami University campus, 35 miles southwest of Dayton and 40 miles northwest of Cincinnati. Acton Lake can be accessed along U.S. Route 27 and Ohio Routes 177, 732 and 725.
