Caesar Creek Lake

This 2,830-acre lake in Warren County contains over 35 miles of shoreline and is the central attraction of Caesar Creek Lake State Park. This is a highly popular destination area located within an easy drive of three major metropolitan areas that include Cincinnati, Dayton and Columbus. Map

The area is very rich in Ohio history and once was home to a number of Indian tribes as well as settlers. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers constructed a dam and impounded the lake in 1978. Visitors to the dam spillway can view Ohio’s ancient history through fossils left embedded in the rocks in this area.

Caesar Creek Lake offers unlimited horsepower and boaters must observe a 10-mile per hour speed limit between sunset and sunrise. Because of its large size and easy access, many different types of recreational boating experiences can be enjoyed here. Boating anglers generally find the best fishing opportunities occur in spring and fall when boating traffic is much less than summer weekends. The various coves, no-wake zones and far reaches of the lake offer good fishing for bass, bluegill, crappies, catfish and saugeye. The lake also is site of a developing high quality muskie fishery.

Boat launch ramps are located at the state park campground at Mound and Center Roads on the upper east end of the lake, at the North Pool, Haines Road, Furnace Shores and near the dam on Wellman Road. The lake also has a designated launch site for hand-powered watercraft at the North Pool location.

Restroom and camping facilities are available at or near most of the boat launch ramps. Drinking water is available at three launch sites. The state park campground offers nearly 300 campsites with electric hookups available.

Caesar Creek Lake is a wonderful water recreation playground that is easily accessible along Ohio Route 73, just 2 miles west of Interstate 71 near Waynesville. The lake and state park also are located 20 miles southeast of Dayton, 30 miles northeast of Cincinnati and 75 miles southwest of Columbus.
