Delaware Lake

Located in central Ohio, this 1,330-acre lake is situated among flat woodland and agricultural lands that once were home to Native Americans inhabiting the area located just north of Columbus. Map

There are 35 miles of shoreline that encircle the lake. The area also includes Delaware State Park and a 4,700-acre wildlife area.

The state park marina offers seasonal boat rentals and docking facilities. Five boat launch ramps are conveniently located around the lake and include the East Ramp, Marina Ramp, South Ramp and two wildlife area access ramps. Rental docks also are available adjacent to the South Ramp.

Boaters can take advantage of excellent state park amenities that include camping, shower and restroom facilities, a dump station, hiking trails, beach and outdoor education programs. In addition to the main beach, boaters in particular enjoy two designated boat-swim areas on Delaware Lake.

Fishing is a very popular for boaters who each year enjoy catching crappie, bass, bluegill, catfish and saugeye. Through special fishing regulations, Delaware Lake has become a prime fishing destination for crappie anglers.

Boats with unlimited horsepower may operate on this lake and must observe a 10 mile per hour speed limit between sunset and sunrise. The long and narrow lake receives water from the Olentangy River and Whetstone Creek. This makes portions of Delaware Lake very suitable to paddlers.

Sailboats, small cruisers, bass boats and pontoons are frequently seen on Delaware Lake. Its close proximity to central Ohio’s growing population makes it a popular boating and state park destination.

Delaware Lake is located along US Route 23 just north of Delaware and approximately 25 miles north of Columbus and 100 miles southwest of Cleveland.
