Rocky Fork Lake

The 2,100-acre lake is located in a scenic woodland area near Hillsboro in Highland County. Boaters can enjoy unlimited horsepower restrictions and have five boat launch ramps from which they can access the lake.

Three marinas are located on the South beach, East shore and North beach areas. Each offers public boat ramps, docking and parking facilities. The East shore marina has a restaurant, while the North shore marina offers a snack bar. A total of 650 seasonal docks, marine fuel, and boating and camping supplies also are available on the lake.

Boaters at Rocky Fork enjoy a designated boat-swim area at the east end of the lake and a boat wading area located near the north shore activity center. A designated overnight boat camping area is located near the South shore marina.

Sport fishing opportunities are rated excellent for largemouth bass, saugeye, channel catfish and flathead catfish. Opportunities for bluegill, crappie and white bass are rated good.

The popular boating and fishing lake is a key attraction of the surrounding 1,400-acre Rocky Fork State Park. There are 230 campsites available for tent and trailer campers, including 40 non-electric sites located along the water’s edge. Boat launch ramps and tie-ups are provided for campers with boats.

A day of swimming and fun in the sun can be enjoyed along the park’s 800-foot sandy beach. Rocky Fork Lake is among the most scenic of southern Ohio’s recreational lakes and remains very popular spring through fall. It is located just south of U.S. Route 50 approximately five miles east of Hillsboro. Rocky Fork also is 63 miles east of Cincinnati, 60 miles southeast of Dayton, and 70 miles southwest of Columbus.
