An Up-Close Look - The Live Falcon Cam

Live images of the peregrine falcon nest located on a ledge of the 41st floor of the Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus. Visitors to the website can watch the state-threatened falcons as eggs are laid, incubated and hatched. Updated information on peregrine falcons across the state is also available on the site. Your donations keep this service going.

Wildlife Education for Teachers and Students

Wild animals hold a special fascination for Ohioans, old and young alike. The Division of Wildlife has many resources for teachers and students to learn about wildlife. All of our resources are provided free of change. Whether it is a workshop for teachers, posters for the classroom, a fact sheet on coyotes, an e-newsletter stocked with ideas for educators, or a grant to make a hummingbird and butterfly garden at their school, we are dedicated to providing the resources that are needed and wanted about Ohio’s wildlife. Your generous donations support these activities.

Eastern Plains Garter Snake Recovery & Research

In 1999, Killdeer Plains Wildlife Area was crawling with Division of Wildlife staff, students from a local high school’s Field Studies Class, and the Columbus Zoo to assess the remaining population of Eastern plains garter snakes and locate pregnant female snakes. Five pregnant female garters were captured during the field surveys and taken to the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium. Since then, many of the offspring of these snakes, reared at the Columbus and Cleveland zoos have been released back at the Killdeer Plains Wildlife Area. Their population is growing. Research and field study continues on this project with your generous donations.
